Site visit: Conversations as data - Taking a qualitative approach to research

Join D2L’s team of product designers and UX researchers for an evening of food, conversation, and a look at qualitative research.

As product teams, we are always informally collecting data: why we win or lose deals, things we heard at meetings with clients, support feedback, etc. As humans, our interpretation of data is always biased. Qualitative research allows us to minimize bias in making sense of the information we have. We’ll walk through what it means to take a qualitative approach to research, its goals, benefits, and drawbacks, as well as outline some systematic approaches to qualitative data analysis.

Learning Objectives Understand goals of qualitative research Explain differences between client conversations and data collection Explain the importance of qualitative research Outline an approach to qualitative analysis
